My son has a clunker (86 Mercedes Benz which was totalled in a crash two years ago (someone broadsided him who had no insurance). We got a salvage title as we found someone who could fix it (he owned it outright - bought with his savings) and although it is not a pretty car - it runs. However, it was considered too good to qualify for the Cash for clunkers program. Several other people who I know advised their twenty something children who were driving clunkers to trade them in under this program - they had the same experience as did my son. So, who exactly did get cash for their clunker?
cksAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-286599265273958850.post-2605408112144867042009-09-24T20:45:08.663-04:002009-09-24T20:45:08.663-04:00Lest anyone laugh, I have driven a Subaru Legacy f...Lest anyone laugh, I have driven a Subaru Legacy for the past 4 1/2 years that we bought at a car charity lot. It has served us well and I hope to get another year out of it. (Last year, I said I wanted to get another year out of it, and maybe NEXT year I will be saying the same thing.)

My point is that the car charities have been hurt by this program, which gave a short-term boost to some auto firms and dealers, but will have long-run harmful effects.William L. It just cost auto repair shops, parts stores, car donation charities and taxpayers a lot of money.Cars4Charitieshttp://www.cars4charities.org/noreply@blogger.com
