The Local Media and the Tonya Craft Coverage

[Update, Thursday May 13 10:00 AM]: The editorial pages of the Times and Free Press have weighed in on the verdict, and let me say I am underwhelmed by what I just read. Here we have seen day after day of utter prosecutorial and judicial misconduct, yet we have weak responses from both editorials.

The Times editorial is a bit better, although it only hints at what was obvious. We had attorneys and even prosecutors around the country following this trial, and as a prosecutor told one of my researchers, he absolutely was stunned at what he saw. Unfortunately, the same editorial pages that are willing to write hard-hitting stuff, as long as it involves something that is far away and pretty much irrelevant to our lives, but when it comes to a monstrous injustice in their backyards, well, suddenly they became very circumspect and cautious.

Give us a break, people. If you cannot recognize a travesty when it is occurring in front of you, then either you are blind or you are willfully neglectful. Take your pick.

[End Update]

Now that the trial of Tonya Craft is over, it is time to look at the performance of the local media and assess how they covered this event. There is the good, the bad, and, well, the really ugly.

The Good

If I needed to get a sense of what happened during the trial, I would read something by Dennis Norwood of The Chattanoogan. I don't know how he was able to get a near-transcript of the day's testimony, but the guy was accurate, really accurate.

Early in the trial, I had misjudged his work, thinking he was in the tank with the prosecutors, but realized I was wrong (and subsequently took down the critical post, as one has to admit mistakes). Dennis, who was at the News-Free Press in the sports department when I was working for the NFP, is a pro in every sense of the word, and was fast and reliable.

Then there was Channel 3, let by Melydia Clewell and Callie Starnes. These ladies were good, and I loved their Twitter feeds. Callie was cat-quick with her dispatches (Yeah, I know, "Tweets") and Melydia was not bad herself.

(Note to the paranoid prosecutors: Melydia was NOT my source of news during the trial. Sorry guys, but while I know her and she provided background for me before the trial began, I was not about to make her life more difficult by bugging her with questions. That Len Gregor called her out numerous times in that courtroom further made me lose respect for him, not that I really respected the guy in the first place.)

Channel 3's post-trial conviction was just outstanding. Keep in mind that they had to put this stuff together quickly, and I must admit that Melydia is a pro when it comes to something like this.

(My only complaint with 3 was the commentary by Ken Poston. There is no way that a guy whose career is dependent upon the good will of people like Brian House, Len Gregor, and Chris Arnt is going to be able to take a hard look at what happened. I'm sorry, but while he might be an able attorney and maybe he could have given good commentary on a trial elsewhere not in the geographical area, his conflict-of-interest problems clearly limited his effectiveness.)

One surprise entry in this category is the Catoosa News. The coverage was fair (and they did run an early article of mine), surprisingly so, given that it was a local paper supposedly intimidated by a "local power structure."

Instead, I found its coverage reliable and up-to-date. This was the biggest trial the paper had covered, and its staff definitely was up to the task, and Mark Andrews distinguished himself with good writing and insight.

The Times-Free Press started slowly, I thought, but by the end, I thought Joy Lukachick really grew a lot during this trial. The TFP was the main source for the blogs by Jacob Sullum at Reason (although he also used Dennis Norwoods's articles), and if Jacob, a friend of mine whom I greatly respect, believes the NFP was reliable, then who am I to disagree?

I also thought the NFP coverage post-trial was outstanding and the staff should be proud of their effort.

The Bad

I don't know about you, but I thought that the coverage from the Today Show just sucked. Bringing in Wendy Murphy, who is about as reliable and truthful an analyst as Hitler was a good artist, just was wrong. As one who has followed Murphy's career for several years, I am not sure I ever have seen her get it right, and she was perhaps the loudest media voice (which made her really high-decible) in the chorus of falsifying information about the infamous Duke Lacrosse Case.

There was absolutely no perspective at all, and all the way to the end, Today presented the story to viewers as though the children accusers had been telling the same story from the beginning, making it a "she said, she said" case. That clearly was not true, but no one at Today seemed interested in even taking a cursory glance at the evidence.

Yeah, they had Tonya, David, and Dr. Lorandos on this morning, but that does not make up for having the execrable Murphy presenting her usual psychotic lies and half-truths. Once again, Today proves that it is not fit to cover anything but the fluffiest of news.

The Ugly

Yes, Channel 9 gets the award. Here is a station that from the start never deviated from its pro-prosecution stance, and the station even tried to claim that it was the defense that first used the word "conspiracy." These were reporters that were clueless all the way through, and I suspect the leadership at the station was absolutely shocked at the "not guilty" verdict.

These were reporters who had no clue that the behavior of the judge and prosecutors during the trial was out of line with what is supposed to be going on. I'm sure that Channel 9's reporters really believe that "He's on cross," or "He's on closing" really WAS what judges say when the other counsel objects.

I've already promised myself that when I visit the Scenic City this summer with my family, I will NEVER watch a news broadcast on Channel 9 again. If their people cannot even figure out what the heck is going on right in front of them, Lord save me from trying to interpret an event through 9's coverage.

Now, I did not follow Channel 12 at all, so I can't comment on what 12 did. This is not a criticism, but Callie and Melydia, not to mention Kevin West of WGOW-FM, kept me informed during the day, and Dennis Norwood and Joy Lukachick gave me what I needed after the day's proceedings had ended, so 12 was left out. Sorry guys.

What about future posts?

There is much to cover in the aftermath of this trial. First, I believe strongly that the rights of other people in that district have been obliterated and there are other innocent people convicted and in prison, based upon the bullying and dishonest prosecution of Arnt and Gregor, and the god-awful testimony of CAC "professionals."

We cannot forget those people, and I will do my best to open up those cases and examine them. There is nothing worse than an innocent person being convicted of a crime, and I sense that Arnt and Gregor enjoy nothing more than destroying the lives of other people. Bullies are like that.

There also will be ramifications to the conduct we have witnessed, and I will report on things as they happen, such as people filing complaints with the Georgia State Bar against the prosecutors. I will admit to having filed one formal complaint with the bar already, complete with documented irrefutable evidence of misconduct by Arnt.

So, while the trial has ended, I am not ready to pack up and leave. There is work to do.

Mr. Anderson, you left out the BEST: and that would be YOU and your postings.
I promise you what's been revealed will not stop with your work.

This is a repost, and I will repost until Mr. Anderson requests I stop. In order to achieve justice, citizen action is needed, and the only way to do it is by writing the appropriate authorities regularly and consistently.

Mr. Stephen D. Kelley Chair, and Barry E. Morgan, Vice-Chair of Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, and Didi Nelson, LECC Manager of The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee, The United States Attorney's Office Northern District of Georgia. The US Attorney's Office, through the LECC program, plays an important role in helping state and local law enforcement agencies gain access to federal resources for criminal investigations.

Dear Mr Baker, Ms. Yates, Ms. Nelson, Mr. Kelley, and Mr. Morgan,
As a citizen residing within the Lookout Mountain judicial Circuit, I am writing to see about the possibility of the Georgia State Attorney General's Office, and the U.S. DOJ Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee coordinating with the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia for investigating and prosecuting the official misconduct of the officers of the Court in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, as being a pattern and practice to deprive the citizens of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit of their constitutional rights to fair trial. This pattern and practice extends not only within the criminal prosecutions conducted within the circuit, but civil actions as well, as all four Judges, Judge Wood, Judge Graham, Judge Van Pelt, and Judge House have destroyed so many families by their behaviors and practices. When is the law going to be FOR the people, and not the officers of the Court?
For the purpose of Section 242, acts under "color of law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official's lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.
Authorities:
18 U.S.C. SECTION 242
The Government must prove four elements to establish the offenses performed by the Defendants.
First: The person upon whom the alleged acts were
committed must have been an inhabitant of a state, district or territory of the United States.
Second: The defendant must have been acting under color of law.
Third: The conduct of the defendant must have deprivedthe victim of some right secured or protected by the Constitution of the United States.
Fourth: The defendant must have acted willfully, that is, with a specific intent to violate the protected constitutional right.

I urge all of you to act promptly and diligently to see justice is served for the citizens of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.

Sincerely, ________________________

I agree with Lookout Spy. You left out yourself Bill. I counted on you and Dennis a lot during the trial. You guys rock!

I'm so sad about news channel's nine's choice of biased reporting. I used to love to watch Calvin Sneed, still like the guy even though, and I still watch him time to time, but the station has changed over time. I'm really disappointed in how they were slanted. My distaste of 9 has been growing. I would watch Calvin if I were surfing and he would be on...but people like that Tanya Mendis lady is always so angry and is like a bulldog barking up the wrong tree. I can't stand to watch her. She's got issues.

I checked 12's coverage here and there but there was hardly any meat to the story. I wonder why.

How can the Catoosa County officials say they are optimistic the community will heal itself? They are a bunch of tottering old fools if they believe that now that the verdict is over the citizens will retreat back to their houses. If the same people that allowed and were involved with case are still there then it will be only a matter of time that someone else will be railroaded through to jail. If the little man house is allowed to remain on the bench then what hope is there for anyone in his, oh excuse me, in "OUR" court. This court is there for us not the little men and women that sit in the big chair. If that fake officer deal is allowed to continue to make up stuff as he sees fit then we are all suspect. And these interviewers, who do they think they are? This was serious business, I saw nothing funny about the proceedings yet they rolled their eyes, thought it was funny they didn't remember things, made up their own words to decribe something suspicious or highly suspicious. If this is the best our tax dollars can get us then we are all in for a really bad hair day. So how can the officials of Catoosa County think the community will heal when they aren't willing to make any changes for a better future of our town and county? Vote the bums out. If this is the best we can offer our kids then we need to move.

I hope Bill Anderson will bring out into the light the many wrong doings of our city and county police and the district attorney's office. One could go way back 30 plus years. Why was a jailer allowed to have sex with a male inmate and then allowed to quit when the inmate spoke up. This man should have been dealt with then so that in the future he wouldn't be allowed to molest other young men. But then a church sat there and allowed this man to work in the youth department. Many at that church think it was the parents and the kids trying to make trouble. It wasn't, it was real, it happened. Shame on you!!!!

News Channel 9 is worthless. Channel 3 is somewhat better but still can be one sided in their reporting. I watch channel 12 because they don't say anything. Better to say nothing than to say something stupid.

I was relaxed, calm and ready for bed. Look what happens as I check one more time before shutting the lights out.

I refresh the page and POW! Dead center I see Channel Nine mentioned a few times.

Last I saw of their reporting, Kevin Sims was trying to put words into the mouth of the juror interviewed. Had to add his "what if" 3 times in a single paragraph, but evidently could NOT quote it as coming from the juror, only infer that it had.

Now I wonder if I'll even sleep a wink tonight.

I want you to know that you had a large part in declaring Tonya Craft's innocense. If it wasn't for your blog clarifying the information in the case against Tonya, the injustice of it all would have been missed by many, many people in this community and nation.

Thanks for helping to keep people protected. It's a great civil service that I highly regard. It would be an honor to have you back in this city for a visit. A complete honor.

pointing fingers doesn't do anything. Bashing doesn't do anything. IGNORE them! Do not look at them, smile at them, speak to them... Just plain out ignore them. Do all your complaining in letters to the CORRECT people, the school, the courts etc. Tonya herself said she was worried about the children. Constant bashing is going to hurt children too! Please just IGNORE all the families involved and follow a more discreet and legal way to get your point across!

From the beginning, channel 9 has been producing the most sensationalized reports on this case. I doubt that it's a case of them being in the pocket of the prosecution, but rather they were after the ratings.

Anonymous said...

News Channel 9 was also the ones that went door to door in Tonya's neighborhood right after the allegations were made about her to "inform" her neighbors about her! They apparently have totally forgotten the Innocent until proven guilty.

More importantly now that the trial is over and a verdict has been reached, what media outlets are going to stay on the story? WRCB seems to be interested in digging further, and the Times Free Press has managed to get a juror to talk a little more. The juror confirmed they saw exactly what we saw regarding bias, lack of evidence, etc. I expect (and fervently hope) we will hear more from the jury as time goes by. I'm guessing the temptation to open up to the media will get even greater once Dateline and the others start asking.

Thank you Bill. You are truly heaven sent. I never followed or posted on blogs before this. I will continue to follow your blogs as I truly beleive that you are a beacon of light on injustice. Perhaps someone else will take up the tourch for Tonya's rest of the story. There will be so much more to tell.

Yes I do agree that to get well reported news information one must do their research and weed out the slanted B.S. which is nearly impossable since the three main networks;NBC,CBS,ABC run everything...In a world where information is at our finger tips and can be transmitted at light speed we must for one demand that networks do not report biasly, second keep up with changes and dont spin on what has already been reported...report the facts and events of the story; when something more transpirers report that too, and lastly networks should not act as P.R. reps.in any case or story.
Oh and screw these so called "expert pannelists". Personaly I make a point to tune out 100% of what they say...Nothing but a bunch of ego maniacs expelling a lot of pointless hot air. I don't know about you but the last thing I need is some psyco babbleing fool spewing rehtoric and telling me how to think or look at something.

William L. Anderson said...

I had forgotten about 9's little foray to scream "CHILD MOLESTER!!!" in Tonya's old neighborhood. There is NO statute of limitations on that vicious behavior.

What 9 did to that woman simply was malicious and it was an act of piling on, demonstrating that the people there have no sense at all of any limitations on their bad behavior. As I said before, I never will watch any newscast from that bunch again. If they will shade the truth our outright lie, as they did here, then they cannot be trusted on ANY story.

Bill,

My husband and I have been following this story since 11/08, on Tonyas private email messages, and cannot believe this is over. Kudos to you and your informative columns. I had no idea how the story we knew from Tonya herself was going to get out the rest of the world, but you did it.

I will continue to read your blogs, and not forget about you :)

I think you had been wanting to write about all the evidence that was left out of the trial. Are you planning on that or because she was found innocent that story is moot?

Thank you, you sir are the best of this whole ordeal

I agree with your comments about WRCB Channel 3. They seemed to care more about this case than the other channels.

David Carroll is an excellent news anchor, and after the verdict was announced, he showed genuine concern for the children who had gone through so much during this trial.

On the other hand, Channel 9 is good at self-promotion, but that's about it.

Mr. Anderson I would like to mention that the wilson family who was so vocal in the beginning seems to have dissapeared from radar. If the the accusers feel victimized and let down by the justice system why hasnt mrs.wilson came out publicly since the trial ended and supported her best friend sandra lamb. I am most certain the media would graciously give her a platform. I know I would take the opportunity to offer public support if it were my supposed best friend. Just a question several of us wondered here in Chickamauga.

Bill: Followed your very informative and right-on-target blog during the entire trial. Outstanding work!

I am interested in learning a little more about Tonya's PI's case. Did he actually do anything wrong? Will he just take a hit and become collateral damage? Or will there be some kind of scrutiny to see that he is treated fairly?

William L. Anderson said...

To answer a couple questions:

On the evidence, we are in the gathering stage right now. I have people working on that and we are not ready.

Regarding Eric Echols the PI, I am pretty sure that the charges were filed to keep him from investigating. I'm going to be posting on him, too, but don't have the material where I want it.

Now that the case is over, I have to decide how I want to pursue stuff. There is not way that we will have as many people reading it, given the verdict and that people cannot keep up the level of intensity that was there before the verdict. NO ONE has that amount of adrenaline in one's system!!

For now, I will do one post a day, or more, if the information requires it. I also have a "day job" and a family that was neglected during this trial (like many of you).

Anonymous said...

Free Stuff, that's what I've been wondering? What happened to him, is he still facing charges, and will he eventually speak out?

Anonymous said...

I am confused....Did accuser dad #2 tell Mike Echols on an audio recording that he believed this never happened to his child? Also is he the parent that assaulted Mike Echols?

William L. Anderson said...

Yes, it was Jerry McDonald who told the "nothing happened" belief to Eric Echols, and just because he cried some crocodile tears on the stand (oh, how dramatic he was and got his 15 minutes of fame, albeit with a bleep-out face) changes nothing to me.

Sandra Lamb was the one who assaulted Eric Echols. The charges against Echols are bogus, and I believe that if the little three want to put him on trial, there should be serious consequences for all of them.

What you saw was a concerted effort by a judge and two prosecutors to knowingly try to rig a guilty verdict against an innocent person. They cannot get away with doing this to Echols, too.

I figure they believed that Tonya would be found guilty, so that the Echols case would be easy pickings. Now they find they really have kicked a hornets nest, and they need to be stung early and often.

Kerwyn said...

To Anon,

I think my information is correct. someone please correct me if I am wrong.

It was Sandra Lamb who assaulted him I believe when he went to serve a subpoena.

I know, its a shocker right?

My child is in same classroom as accuser 2. My child for obvious reasons doesnt know or understand the situation...however Tuesday upon picking my child up from school she stated that accuser 2 told classmates that her family is moving to Chattanooga. How terrible it is for these kids to pay the price having to leave friends because of the parents malicious atrocious behavior!!

All media that just reports, lacks the ambition or skills to investigate, gets about 100% of the news they report directly from the authorities involved and will NOT burn that bridge very often. It's not the ratings so much as it is the lazy and less expensive method of 'uncovering' what they report.

Now, unlike Bill, I will watch & read Nine to report on their inaccuracies and twisted BS elsewhere, with a group of friends have seen this biased media spin and track those instances of it in many stories across the nation.

For just a little example of Nine's work , they run to have something from a juror BECAUSE 3 already had it. In that write up they added their own words in an effort to make the reader believe it was something the juror said;

'Butch' will live the rest of his life with a 'what if.' What if he was wrong. What if he let a child molester walk. What if it haunts him forever. "The little girls is what bothers me..." Butch says before tearing up.

There you have FOUR what if's tossed in to lead the reader into believing poor 'Butch' is sleepless at night with NIGHTMARES full of what if's.

Another part of that article tells us;

Initially, only one woman felt there might be something to it, according to Butch.

We know, if a reader pays close attention, that NEITHER of these spins are quotes of the juror (I pasted them as-is from Nine), so they are either perceptions or narratives added by the reporter. They are NOT fact, NOT sourced and NOT to be taken as accurate from Nine as the source.

Now let's see how the readers took it in comments;

rgoldgal wrote:
I can understand how he feels, standing in judgement of someone is a scary position to be put in.

and

charrok1 wrote:
Butch, I wouldnt worry much. If she did do it there's little chance she'll do it again.

So we have both showing concerns for the sleepless juror struggling with a verdict he added his UNCERTAINTY to AND, more so, the latter indicating that NINE's added what if left them to believe

If you go to Channel 3 (Callie I believe) and TFP (JOY), their sources impeach the BS spin Nine added themselves, as all others have stated they did not even have to vote on the verdict.

Channel Nine just plain sucks. They are in the 'back pocket' of the everyday source for reporting and I would not be surprised if the GM likes to golf, dine out or tip a few at the local club with some associated to the side that wanted this prosecution.

That's about as polite as I can be in my summary of their reporting.

I want to point out something that was discussed with my friends and myself. I was sexually abused in the worst way starting at 5 and ending around 8. I like many adults I have spoken with never told or did not tell til we were older. I believe this is fairly common. Most victims do not tell right away for whatever reason. So this seemed kinda odd to me from the start. Kerwyn could you please respond to this as you may know more on statistics.

Yes indeed, thank you Bill for giving us the vehicle to get our voices heard-and to get Tonya's Truth out. As a local citizen, I had the opportunity to sit in the courtroom multiple times, many times all day long with many supporters, family, and friends of Tonya. I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog, and will continue on in this journey for justice. This whole thing smelled bad from the beginning and now I know how small town politics can totally destroy lives of good people and relationships. This town will never be the same, the citizens of this county are not going to put up with this crap any longer. I heard from somewhere or read it I'm not sure, that this town will go back to how they lived before the trial began and I can assure you I will not. I will press on to help Tonya and "the Team" make sure this does not happen again. Our community deserves that as well as our children. I will do whatever I can to make sure Mr. House and his followers are not given another opportunity to abuse power. This is the right thing to do and the right time. I do not think the prosecution, House, the accusers, and this county thought Tonya would rock their little corrupt world, but she did. This incredible defense team and this goes out to Gregor "the Team Tonya" exposed and humiliated you around the globe. Kudos to social networking sites, blogs and twitter because they were our voice in getting the truth out about the corruption involved here in Catoosa County. One more thing, keep the blogs, emails, tweeting and contact with the media going people because this is what I think gained public attention and awareness. Thanks WRCBTV3 you were right on it with the facts!! Good Luck to Tonya and her family, you are one brave woman, you inspire people to believe in themselves and stand up to being bullied. I'm thinking of veggietales- Dave & the Giant Pickle (David & Goliath). Today is a good day in Catoosa County.

Bill, what I think would be well worth exploring is a topic you mentioned earlier, the flow of Federal dollars into Judicial Circuits that have high numbers of reported sex crimes and Family Violence Act charges. You touched on the statistics of reported cases and how skewewd the numbers are in the LMJC, instead of 25% of the reported cases being found prosecutable, the numbers in the LMJC are so off average. Today in the Chattanooga times they touched on another case before Judge House regarding entrapment of a guy who was talking online to an FBI agent. The guy got put in jail for chatting online with an adult, 20 year sentence, and he tried to drop the chats when she told him she was 14, but the FBI kept pushing.

It is despicable that the children have to leave their friends and school but doesn't that prove their parents participated in the charade from the beginning. Too many things didn't add up once I read both sides of the story. ChatWalkCatt's website had a long-winded commentary from someone hiding behind a pseudonym this AM. Basically, it went on and on about how Dr. Lorandos is a snake oil salesman who belittled our great and worthy prosecutor and judge. Laughed a lot over the post but read it well. Sour grapes as far as I'm concerned, especially since this user only signed on to comment this month. I feel Dr. Lorandos showed remarkable restraint during this trial when the judge and prosecutors frustrated him at every turn. Two things Tonya testified to really bother me, though. First was a comment made on this blog that came to light as true. Shuddering to think of it now but according to TC, her daughter 'helped' stepmom shave herself so she wouldn't get cut. How can any reputable counselor blow that off as normal? My kids all accepted that I stopped bathing them long before they started school and all of them had to take a second bath many times when they didn't get as clean as I expected, but I never once went in there, especially with the boys, to help them get clean. Then there was the comment about how Tonya told Det. Deal she wanted to speak to an attorney before answering his questions. His response? 'I don't work for your lawyer." There was more but I haven't found it yet. The upswing of that conversation was the first arrest with a couple of days. So, from the beginning, TC's rights were violated. And I hate saying it that way because the ones I hear screaming about their rights the most usually did the crime. But she used her head and realized you never talk to the cops about this kind of allegation without legal advice. As my husband and I found out the hard way, your words are twisted and not believed in any way. To imply she has no right to talk to an attorney or have one present was wrong on Det. Deal's behalf but I have seen nothing about him being kept away from investigating more child crimes.
Bill, I thank you for polarizing this area. Too many of us suffered these insults quietly and kept our heads in the sand because we feared retribution. But that only made the situation worse. Lots of folks are contacting me about getting together. I'm hoping I'll be caught up with my work tonight so I can organize this and get to work. However, I don't think bearding Mr. Franklin in his den will work. From things I've read in other forums, he's as deeply involved as the rest of the motely crew. I guess it's time to start filling up the Attorney General's inbox. Sure hope he listens.

So you have a bunch of links to news sites but none to the actual coverage. Is there a good writeup of this case anywhere? I had not heard about it, at all, until people started shouting about the not guilty verdict.

Seeing all these posts written as though everybody already knows what's what is a little frustrating

KC Sprayberry said...

One of Tonya's friends posted to the T4T website last night that they're trying to get people to donate to a fund to purchase a copy of the transcript. It's $21,000 - at $3.76 a page, that's almost 5600 pages. I know this trial was long but had no idea it was that bad. Become a Truth for Tonya fan and you can help her get this vital information for the stuff she has to do now that she's disproved the prosecution's allegations.

I love Channel 3, have always watched it and will continue. After seeing how well Channel 3 covered the Tonya Craft Trial, verdict and post verdict interviews, my loyalty to Channel 3 has increased 200%. I was very impressed with Melydia and Callie's coverage. Those 2 ladies and their crew did AWESOME!

Dennis with the Chattanoogan did great as well. Of course the most impressive was reading the testimony he captured and reported on so frequently. I will be reading his work much more often!

Saving the best for last- Mr. BILL ANDERSON, this blog was phenomenal! I've never read your blog until I Googled Tonya Craft during the 1st week of the trial and I was hooked on this blog after that! As others have said, thank you for becoming an ally for Tonya and using your blog to reach beyond the Chattanooga/Ringgold area to expose the LMJD for the corrupt district they are.

Thanks again to all of the media (excluding Channel 9)for your coverage, devotion to reporting the NEWS and professionalism during this trial.

I agree partially with you, Bill, about the editorials. The editors of those papers might have toned them down due to pressure from the owners or maybe a desire not to create waves in their backyard. Which is exactly the purpose of the press. I can remember many eye popping, blood pressure raising editorials from the now defunct paper where I worked in my hometown of Monrovia, CA. One was so bad we had threats for three days. Then one afternoon, three bangs had everyone but one guy diving under their desks thinking we were under fire. We were, from an early edition Mazda with the infamous rotary engine. The only guy not to dive under a desk laughed for hours but admitted he didn't hide because he owned the same model vehicle and recognized the sound. Too bad editors now shake at the thought of upsetting their readers. Upset readers usually look for ways to disprove the editorial, and as was the case in the one almost 30 years ago, discover the truth and do something about it.

I saw the "snake oil" post. What is amazing to me is that people really believed that what was going on in that courtroom was legitimate. These are people who apparently have no problem with prosecution witnesses committing perjury and for a judge running a courtroom by making up the rules as he goes along.

KC, Ignore that "spark of insanity" guys comments. He seems to have no concept of the criminal justice system. Of course you would want a vigorous defense.

KC Sprayberry said...

Anon 11:27, actually, I enjoy reading those kind of comments. I write for children, having been published several times in magazines and (hopefully) awaiting the sale of my first book. This case interests me for the same reason Tonya fought so hard against the charges. Kids and how it affects them. I remember seeing a post on T4T just before the final week of the trial that she only wants to be sure her kids are safe. Nothing else mattered to her than knowing nothing would happen to her kids. That alone tells me of her courage and how innocent she truly was. Too bad so many are now doubting the verdict and qualifying their support by saying she might have done something but no one can prove it by how awful the prosecution handled the case. I can say I downloaded the indictments and was astonished. Number 1 son was a career criminal, until he decided he no longer wanted to live in prison. His indictments for burglary and drugs were always at least 2-3 pages. The indictments brought against Ms. Craft were half a page and confusing. It was hard to determine how the charges were different from the descriptions of the crimes. That made me really wonder about why the grand jury didn't hand the case back to the less-than-dynamic duo and tell them to come back when they had real evidence. Or don't most people around here know they can do that?

I too appreciate this blog. I found this blog through LewRockwell.com during the tail end of the Duke case. I enjoyed Bills coverage of that case so when he posted about Tonya's case on Lewrockwell I thought it must be another railroading and checked it out. I haven't been disappointed by Bill's coverage and his activism. The thing that stands out for me with Bill's coverage is both his heartfelt interest in justice and defending the true victims, and his willingness to say and cover the aspects that are no longer dealt with in main stream media. Nowadays investigative reporting is a lost science. The news is a cartoon parody that glosses over events and tells us nothing of the truth.

Thanks Bill.

KC Sprayberry said...

Well, one thing's for sure. The trolls are still reading this blog but this time no comment. There was action. LMJC's website no longer has HDMI cables for sale on the home page. However, the other amateur antics are still there. I have always said change comes slow to the South. There's still hope they'll get rid of the music (you can only hear it if you use Internet Explorer), picture of Captain Kirk, and those awful, migraine inducing colors on the judge's pages. Perhaps I can direct them to a marketing person I heard speak at a conference a year ago. She might be able to fix their site so it's more professional.

ok I got a couple questions that I hope someone will answer, and they aren't related to the blog..sorry!

1. Does anyone know (no assumptions please, actual facts) if Tonya's parents have had visitations with their grandchildren? I sure hope so.

2. Have charges been filed for Tonya recieving death threats? My opinion, probably not. Tonya, once again, will more than likely take the high road and ignore it.

Thanks, tplas

KC Sprayberry said...

Harmony, one thing I saw on LMJC's website a few minutes ago in addition to the lack of HDMI cables was a notice that there's a break going on from the 17-21 of this month. The reason is unavailable officers from drug enforcement. But, with the timing, one has to wonder.

What bothers me the most is the news outlets only cry foul only after it becomes a story. There to often the start of Guilty tell proven innocent, it needs to change. People of this country need to know that the law inforcement of this country can arrest you on just very little evidence. Which is later thrown out buy good prosucatoral review. In this case they wanted blood because it meant more money to their unjust cause.

John, not sure if you saw my comment on the previous thread. Myself & some friends may be able to help you if you have truly been wrongfully accused. If you could leave an email address that I can contact you at, please do so. Just say, To JL: then the addy.

Regarding the coverage, it is amazing that channel 9 is still in the tank. Even though they have been blasted with facts, they still choose to report lies. It has changed a life-long friendship & I find that despicable. So Madewell, if you are reading this, you know what I am talking about. I haven't watched them for years due to their lies & plain old, non-research of events. You have to try to read through them to find any actual facts & I personally do not have time for it. Since they write out their stories now, you then have to read between the lines to find the facts, if there are any at all. My husband & I did find it entertaining the other day after the verdict, how they handled it. We normally would not turn it to them, but my husband HAD to see what they did with it. Madewell fumbled with his words & truly looked frightened. They could not have ran any faster than they did to get away from that story. Next up, they were discussing MRI's & at the top of the 6 o'clock broadcast, it was about animal shelters. Hmmmmmmm. My hubby made a phone call (5th one in 4 weeks), and it still hasn't been returned. It's very sad, but it showed what he needed to know.

Channel 3, keep it coming & I know you will. You have already mapped out some of your plans. Thumbs up.

WGOW, excellent interview with Tonya & Dr. Lorandos this morning. Also, thanks for letting us know about Henke's attorney not returning the phone calls & not responding to King & Covert in person. Another thumbs up!

Bill, keep the blogs coming as you have time. I understand about your family feeling neglected. We will continue to read & comment.

Her lawyers were great and yes she probably would have gotten off with Townley. The fact is it takes a guy that can pick up and drive home after the fact to expose this kind of conduct. People that live close may end up in jail dead from an accident or a total outcast.

The prosecution and police had an obligation to investigate. That is true. Then again if Buzz is so obligated to investigate why is it that I have provided him video tapes of a local cop breaking into my building and stealing goods and he has done squat. Why is it that David L. Scroggings the police officer that was listed in the Times Free press today that has made over 80 cases was ever around to make these cases. He has been caught lying under oath at least 8 different times. He has been found to have assualted a lady in Ringgold and ordered to do anger managment classes of which he refused. He has been placed on probation with POST for his bad conduct. He opened an investigation into his boss in Ft. Oglethorpe after he was demoted and reprimanded for mis-conduct. Come on folks. Buzz can and does pick and choose who he wants to prosecute. Had he realized this case was going to go national none of us would have any idea who Tonya Craft is.

Lets face it Buzz lets the cops doas they please. He covers their tracks.

On another note that no one noticed. On May 11, 2010. There was a young boy that plead guilty to child molestation in Walker County. He was 19 and had a baby. His girlfriend had an older child that accused him of molestation. The child later recanted and said she made everything up to get out of trouble. Buzz Franklins office refused to drop the case. Instead they arrested the boys father for some BS perjury charge as well as the girlfriend for perjury. Yes I said perjury. The same thing David L. Scroggins has been caught doing no les than 8 times. The boy was scared his dad would go to jail and his babby's mother would go to jail as well. He plead guilty and got 30 years to serve 7. They let the father and girlfriend off as part of the plea bargain. This boy was 19 and had no money the family had no money to pay a lawyer. He got the good old public defender. The kids life is ruined and so is his childs. The young mans name is Dillon Morgan. He is no Tonya Craft and had no money to pay for the defense he needed. There are many Tonya Crafts in the LMJD they just cannot fight like she did. They all get screwed.

Think about what I am saying. I am not for or against Ms. Craft. I am against the corruption that has gone one in NW Georgia for many decades.

tplas, I can answer question #1 with fact.

Tonya's parents see the children every other weekend. Tonya only gets supervised visitation with her son. As hard as it was, she stuck to the orders & did not see her daughter until the day in court. You can imagine that heartbreak.

As far as your 2nd question, I would just sit back on that for a few days and wait. I do not know anything for certain & will not say anything on here, but just kind of sit back & think of the current circumstances & it might help you see what is coming. ;-)

I also want to add, a lot have people have said things regarding Jerry McDonald's "tearful" testimony. I didn't buy it the first day & I really don't buy it after seeing & hearing replays. It was forced & insincere. Even though his face is blocked out, you can still make a little of it out & you can also see his body language. But, the true tell is in his voice. I guess someone would have to have known him & truly seen & heard him cry for something to truly understand.

Les,

If you're interested in making a difference, join me and a bunch of other folks from the area as we work out how to make a difference. We've all been affected in one way or another by this system and want to do something, anything. Results won't come fast but eventually people will get tired of hearing the same old 'they're kooks' or 'they just can't handle the truth' rhetoric from the system and start looking hard. My email is kathispray@yahoo.com. I'm currently catching up on stuff I ignored during the trial and verdict wait but should be starting on organizing this by the weekend if not tomorrow.

Remember, change can and does come not with a bang but a quiet whisper spoken in a corner. There are a lot of people caught up in a madness I thought we left in the 80's. To stop it, we have to stand up and start getting the attention of people who will do what's needed. Call us the 'B' Team. Bill and his group will use their expertise to take care of those responsible for Tonya's problems. It's our job to take care of the rest. Elections are coming up. The power of one vote can turn an election. And a lot of people involved in these cases are up for reelection. Most run unopposed but their participation in this corruption being brought to light might be what's needed to bring out people interested in doing the job.

And now a question for the masses. I've tried researching this for a week but can't find a true answer. Every other county in Georgia elects their coroner. But the only ballot I can find online for Walker doesn't have anything but half the first page. So, am I remembering right that Dewayne Wilson runs unopposed for his job every four years? My husband thinks it might be appointed but I'm not so sure. Because, if Wilson does run for reelection, we need to make sure he's on the same list as the rest we want replaced.

Anonymous said...

kbp, they need to get them a.s.a.p. There are companies who buy court transcripts & copyright them so others can't use them. I have found this to be highly illegal, but it is legal and happens all over the country. Especially with a case like this. The defense's hands will be tied & they do need them for truth's sake. I am dropping off a check today to help them get these quickly. CC will be more than happy to make these go away.

Anonymous said...

I hope everyone has been calling Mrs.Day so we can try to get the Boyds,Wilsons,Lambs &Mcdonalds out of our school system.Everyone please call.

KC Sprayberry said...

kbp, maybe her defense teams needs certified copies for the complaints, custody issue, and any potential civil lawsuits? It seems to me that would be important as proof the copies aren't tampered with prior to the filing. Or just covering their backsides in case of other issues.

Anonymous said...

KC, oddly enough, that is the case. Not many people want or qualify for the job in the more rural counties. It would be nice if they could get another one, but it would be hard pressed. My uncle was coroner of CC for years & they honestly only go & pronounce death & sign death certificates. DeWayne likes to think he investigates, but as many in the area can tell you, if something truly needs investigated, the bodies are sent to the state lab.

Little story about the Wilson's and some joking, including Bill, about boycotting a funeral home. Well, it is something you can do by not letting them have your business (which means write it in your own will & do not use them for family members). My family has not used them since 1991. First of all, their facilities are less than clean & are not kept up with very well. Second, my grandfather was from Michigan, but we had brought him down here for the last year & a 1/2 of his life. He passed & we used Wilson in Ft. O for the arrangements of having him cremated (at the Marsh crematory, ick)& shipped to Michigan to be buried by my grandmother. Well, 6 weeks later we get a phone call from the cemetary in MI. Still no granpa. Hmmmm. I was 19 & my mother sent me to Wilson to find out what was going on, possibly a tracking # or something. Granpa's cremains were in a box in Wilson's desk. He "forgot" about them. So, needless to say, we stopped using them. In fact, we actually had to have my granpa's cremains exhumed to make sure they were at least human. That was during the Marsh fiasco. Most families with access were asked to do so because of the investigation & we complied. It was costly, but we wanted to know also, so it was worth it. Whether or not they were granpa's, we will never know, but at least they were human. Sorry for going on, but it is a little tie in to the type of people we deal with here.

Also, not sure if you or Bill knew this, but Sharon Anderson is actually a deputy coroner in Catoosa. Just a little bit of trivia in case it ever comes up on Jeopardy. :-)

Anonymous said...

I agree we need your help please call Mrs.Day & write to her, that is our only hope to get rid of these families.

William L. Anderson said...

I knew about Sharon Anderson.

Folks, the stuff keeps coming in about the prosecutors, the way they do business, and personal stuff as well. Let me just say that it really is just beginning.

Arnt, Gregor, and House are going to be in for more investigations, and even if the feds drop the ball (which I expect to happen), other people investigating this district will NOT be dropping the ball; of that you can be assured.

And, please, we need to stop going after the individuals who are not directly related to this case. There is so much with the main people that I want to concentrate on them.

I do NOT want this blog to be a character assassination blog. Yes, I am sure people will say I have engaged in such regarding the prosecutors and the judge, but what I have said relates directly to their actions and their own words, and also to the huge amount of power they have over the lives of other people.

I keep seeing comments here about calling the school to get rid of some children there.

While I do not agree with placing any blame on children, I would like to point out that any policy that allows children from outside a school district to attend the school will certainly never change just becasue people call and complain.

That's a matter the school board would have to address before any changes could be made.

Those in the school you mal call are only ADMINISTRATORS, they are paid to operate by the policies established by the school board.

I'm 99.9% certain there is little chance of any success for the effort, but if you want it changed then you'll have to go where they can change it - the school board.

Meanwhile, comments here could do nothing more than allowing one to vent.

Bill here is a thought in every county there should be a review panel set up to review our elected authorities it should comprise of ex judges or someone who knows the law, also someone from the press should be in charge of the min. this person should always be neutral . All should be available for public view. That way we as citizens can be informed on who to vote for. We as a people should do as are founders intended. For far to long people have just voted and went back to there lifes never holding those accountable for their actions. This has to stop. We have to start in our local communities and then those at the state and federal level will see we mean business. I’m afraid if we don’t start now all is lost. John, there are places with citizen review boards that look into allegations of malfeasance. I remember one of the many places I lived before settling here (and can't remember which one) used it with the PD and prosecutor's office. There weren't many complaints regarding problems after the CRB came down hard on offenders and anyone lying while making a complaint equally. But, the biggest problem, like jury duty, was finding people willing to do it. It's mostly volunteer, if I remember correctly, and they met once a month to take care of any business. I think the best solution is a board comprised of both citizens and retired judges/lawyers with one person from another field (not necessarily press) to chair the meetings and as a voice of reason when arguments get too loud. Any kind of CRB usually makes those still doing their job well but thinking of cutting corners sit up straight. But, and it's a big but, a lot of the problems around here exist because it's the status quo. So, in order to end it, we need those former judges/retired lawyers from somewhere else.

William L. Anderson said...

Let us just say that Joal Henke has an attorney who reflect's Joal's character. I've known the attorney for more than 30 years.

I really can do without the stuff on Kristin Bradley. Remember, she was one of my students and whether or not I agree or disagree with her, I do have loyalty to the kids who have had to suffer in a classroom with me. My students here at the True FSU will tell you the same thing.

I'm thankful that Tim Deal, Chris Arnt, Len Gregor, and Brian House were NOT former students, or I would have to break my rules.

At the establishment of our constitutions, the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government. Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become the most dangerous; that the insufficiency of the means provided for their removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions, nevertheless, become law by precedent, sapping, by little and little, the foundations of the constitution, and working its change by construction, before any one has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be trusted for life, if secured against all liability to account.

To answer your question about the coroner's position, yes, it is an elected post. Wilson ran against some guy last year, but beat him overwhelmingly. He originally beat out Bill McGill several years ago.
As for Kristen Bradley's remark on facebook, capture it, and present it to Melody Day. I am sure she would be very interested in seeing that. That is being proactive, not reactive. As for the kids and the actions at the school. My guess is your children had very little to do with those children anyway. If you want to privately tell your children to stay away, then do so, but campaigning to have them removed from Chickamauga School System is moronic. First of all, it is not going to happen. Secondly, if every child at that school that was not a city resident was removed, Chickamauga Schools would not exist. They depend heavily on the tuition from the out of city students, and that would be suicide. They are not going to do that, and they are not going to isolate and single out particular families. If you have a problem with Sheri Wilson being the rec cheerleading coach (if she actually was trying to teach then cheers then that alone would be a site I am sure would be worth AFV or at least a youtube video), then have your children participate is another rec league.
Folks, don't drop the ball, and react to a kneejerk reaction. Tonya doesn't want that by her own words. Remember these children all were victims, not of child molestation, but certainly of the corrupt system no doubt. We do all have a lot of healing to do, but dog piling on the heap will only further polarize the situation. As for removing the judges, DA, Sheriff, Coroner, who among you are going to go to an honest attorneys and law enforcement officers, and citizens for that matter that are qualified and persuade them to run? Are you willing yourself to run for office. With all the mudslinging and character assassinations that this are are familiar with, I wouldn't even fathom a run for office. The judges of LMJC have run unopposed for over 40 years, and had Ralph Hill not stepped down, there would have been a true election for the Superior Court Judge position two years ago.
Think about this, please, and get to work in a positive, constructive way to make the changes.

For those of you who don't get the Times Free Press, here's two relevant news items concerning the LMJC, one has to do with a trumped up charge against a man who was sentenced by Judge House to 20 years in prison for talking with an adult online, he tried to fight the charges. Apparently the FBI ran a Craigslist personal ad purportedly by a 19 year old girl looking for a date, the "offender" was charged with initiating contact with a minor for sexual purposes; the other has to do with possible investigations of the LMJC on the State level:

I have to agree with Mr. Anderson. This blog shouldn't be about 'BASHING'. Also....suggesting the removal of the children from CES is WRONG. These children are victims just like Tonya. They need prayer, support & understanding.

Thank you Mr. Anderson for all you are doing here, and everyone else who is helping with this injustice. I am doing my part as well, but NOT at the cost of sinking to the same level as the people who caused all this in the first place. Becoming a bully is not necessary.

Cross-examination of Saundra Lamb:
Did you not tell (the other mother-Mrs. MacDonald ) if they did not get their daughter help you would tell others about their drug use?” “No, I did not. What I did do was tell her that she should get her daughter some help. I don’t know what Tonya has on you, whether it’s your cocaine use of your affairs, but you need to get some help for your daughter.”

Stats...From Sydney Carlton...

Cattosa County indicates that they have NO false claims, ever according to the national statistics for 2008. Yet in 2008 Catoosa County reported 432 child abuse (all abuse) cases , 36.3 were substantiated and they have a fairly high 16.6% per 1000 children under 18 maltreatment (abuse of any kind) rate.

All that being said, here is the more scary numbers, in the year 2000, Georgia reported 92,254 cases of children that were in CPS review (state wide). Of that, 61,448 were NOT substantiated. Yes, you read that right. Double the number that were found to have "some substantiation" were found to be false. These numbers are for ANY cps intervention, not just sexual abuse. If you read the study, they note; MOST states do NOT collect data in the category "intentionally false". Instead they lump it all in under unsubstantiated which of course is NOT the same thing.

Anon 4:22. Those are some interesting stats. I keep reading all over the internet in media sources, child advocacy groups, and feminazi pages that children "hardly ever" lie about abuse of any kind. They say that when there are false allegations it is always the fault of a parent, that it is used in part of a custody dispute or to get back at someone. Yet, the reality is that children a lieing all the time, especially now that they know they have this power. Think of it. When girls realize they have power over boys by using their sexuality, they will use it. When children realize they have power over adults by using "they touched me," they will use it. This is not the first time that people have realized this. Remember the South Park episode where the kids had every adult in town arrested by claiming they "molestered" them? People have been recognizing this phenomeon for years. The main-stream establishment refuses to see it, however, because, just like Deal with the "my mommy told me..." statement, it doesn't fit into their agenda; the agenda of controling our lives.

Also, it is interesting here that the two people who DID fit the pattern that the establishment accepts as an explanation for false allegations, Evans & Henke, are being given a free pass in this case.

Now, that promises to be interesting PitOwner. I believe I might just watch to see what SL has to say, but I can pretty much bet right now it's all about how TC avoided a long prison sentence with her antics and now the poor children are scared to death she's coming back so all these families need to move (in one case, already planned). And the detective, ADAs, and judge were right to be so mean. But, I still have a problem with an ADA asking what kind of underwear a person wears of all her friends. That's a bit personal and meant to do nothing more than embarrass TC. Yes, this is in complete disagreement with Poston, who I have always felt resembles a donkey's backside. Now, if you really want to rile him up, ask him about his case that's on all the true crime shows, about the guy who's wife died under mysterious circumstances.
Next topic. I do believe Anon 4:34 might be one of our trolls trying to stir the pot. Notice how we went most of the day, until about the time everyone gets home with their kids after school, without any bashing of those families. Then the bashing posts come up and we're sucked in. Yes, we're human, but we're only feeding their ego.

Gotta run. Love Bill's blog. But it's so addictive and my teen is about to start chewing on the sides of the house. He does get hungry!

John, this is JL, thank you & if you want, you can remove your post with your email addy now. I will be sending you an email tonight & hopefully myself & my friends can help.

Narcissist, you are exactly right. We should all be teaching our children to be proactive, rather than reactive. This was a problem a few months ago in this area with the whole LFO cheerleaders ordeal. People did not stop & think about the legalities & immediately jumped on the bandwagon calling our superintendent names & everything else. My 15 year old knew better than to react that way.

As far as the anon poster who keeps on posting the same stuff over & over again, please stop. These situations are in every school, everywhere. Even the private schools have their own problems. You sound like a fool & it is taking up space for people who truly want to help or need help themselves. Like Bill said, we may not agree with how Mrs. Bradley handled or handles anything, but she is not the cause of what happened to Tonya. You can start your own blog to bash her & whoever else you like. Favoritism takes place in every school. Period. Exclamation point. You can always homeschool or lock up your kids against the real world if you like, but in the real world, there are people of all kinds. It is our responsibility as parents to teach kids how to handle situations & not jump, jump, jump like crazy people. That is how this whole thing started. If you can not behave & listen to others, I will be more than happy to do it for you. I'm sure your children are the same way as you are because they have the proclivity to emulate their parents. I've always told my daughter that if anyone is mean or ugly to her, ignore it, they will go away. If it gets too bad, go to a teacher or administrator. I'm sorry you feel "wronged" by these people being in your school, but did you care so much before you knew they were not so good people. If you did, why not complain then. If these people do live in Catoosa County & are sending their children there, then yes, they should be removed because I will agree that the "out of district" fee is for Walker County residents only. Honestly, we don't really want them in Catoosa County schools, but the chips will fall where they may. God is in control & will take care of you & others who feel the same if you cast those cares upon Him. Repeating yourself over & over on the comment section of this blog does nothing for you. You have brought other people into it who have purposefully stayed out of it, and that is not only just wrong, but a sin. Just do us ALL a favor & take it elsewhere. Teach your children to be kind & respectful & they will receive great rewards; teach them to hate & react selfishly, and they will be punished. Please, I beg of you, just stop.

Tonya has shown nothing but grace during this whole fiasco. Would it be so hard to honor her, her parents, her attorneys & her supporters by doing the same? Sadly, women showing grace has come to a near end in our society & I know that I am very glad to have parents, especially my mother, to have taught me that rare trait. Through it all, you must look up to God & ask for his help & guidance, otherwise, you will not be rewarded on Earth or in Heaven.

Wow- this blog is going downhill fast. Everyone posting the negative character attacks is starting to look no better than House, Arnt and Gregor.

I've never met Tonya but my immediate first impression of her is that she is a very classy woman. As I've stated before, she has handled her whole life being ripped from her with amazing grace, class, pride, faith (I could go on and on). She is a TRUE INSPIRATION to me and I know thousands of others. However, the ones who are using this blog and other networking sites to character assasinate others are no better than the ones that did it to Tonya. Come on people, this blog and being Tonya's Supporters we represent her and cast a major reflection on her and her mission to get her children and help the wrongfully accused. This all needs to stop!

What we should be talking about is how we can raise the $21k to get her the court transcripts. OR we could be talking about how amazing Tonya is and how anyone should be happy to call her a daughter, wife, sister, MOTHER, friend, TEACHER etc. And how we'd all love to meet her one day.

By this blog being consumed by ranting and raving about others just feeds into the evil that is surrounding this whole case.

Don't get me wrong I'm angry about what has happened and what she has suffered through. I'd love to rant and rave about all the things I'd love to see Tonya do to those people. But at the same time, I'm not going to feed into their evil cesspool of lies and manipulation.

WE ARE ALL BETTER THAN THAT!

I don't have my Bible with me but I'm pretty sure it's Romans 12 that states we should pray for our enemies and let GOD have the wrath on them and deal with them his own way.

Praying for Tonya, her children and family!

I first heard about this case in 2008, however, living in the North it was a blip on the screen and most of us that are not from the area went about our daily lives without thought to Tonya Craft's struggles. That is unfortunate as I believe Ms. Craft needed and still needs all of the support/supporters she can gain.

Once I was re-introduced to this case, I, like most of you on this blog, followed with intense interest. I remember thinking back in 2008 that she could quite possibly be innocent and through my watching of the trial, Mr. Anderson's great postings and your intelligent comments I came to that conclusion with complete conviction. Thank you to all of you for assisting us that have no real tangible connection to the case or to Ms. Craft understand the dynamics of what was happening and still happening in your area.

Having said that, and at the risk of looking like a “pushy Northerner,” I have to agree with all those that say the rude, snide and lynch-mob mentality comments must stop. We are not doing Ms. Craft, her family or your community any service by disparaging any of the players, their family or their friends. As stated by many, it cheapens the struggles that went on with this case and in years to come, three little girls could read these comments somewhere and feel like what they did was wrong. I think most of us can agree that what they did was not wrong; what was done to them was.

Tonya Craft fought a long battle to get the truth out there. Now that it is out there the answer going forward is awareness and advocacy. Let’s be among those that make real changes. Let’s be the ones who stand up for those that have been wronged, both in the defense and prosecution of crimes like these. Let’s be the ones who make the changes needed to ensure something like this is less likely in the future. Let’s be a community (no matter where you live) who cares. Let’s get the truth out there.

Just finished watching SL interview. She kept looking left when talking about TC's guilt. Now, most people recognize that as a poker tell, as a bluff, or a lie. And I've found when people look left, they are lying. The whole middle class look in the living room with the tiny dog sitting her lap while giving us her tale was made up from the beginning. But I congratulate Callie Starnes for looking at both sides of the issue. Just what a reporter should do.

Oh, Sandra Lamb also told a big lie during the interview when she said she never threatened Tonya Craft's life. Wasn't SL the one that made the death threat in court? Have to go back through all the news reports after the verdict. But one of my unasked questions is now answered. One of the people staring out the 2nd floor window of the courthouse at the reporters was Sandra Lamb.

Listen, I do not know or associate with those 4 families. I live a nice, quiet existence in Ringgold. I have had a great deal of things happen in my life that should make me an angry, bitter person, but instead, I have taken a proactive approach whenever I could/can. I will always do that. Right there, you proved my point that you are the same person posting the same thing again & again. Many have asked you to stop, but you continue. Keep on with your rants & we will all ignore you. You offer nothing, I mean absolutely nothing credible, proactive, encouraging or factual to this site. You read what you choose to read, then blast off on that. I'm honestly starting to wonder if you aren't one of the people you keep referring to (Lamb, Wilson, McDonald, Boyd), and trying to cause discontent on this site. Maybe, I don't know.

As far as your attacks on Shea Beagles, get a life. I've known Shea since high school & she is friends with people on both sides of this case. Do you not think for a second that puts her in an awkward position? Probably not. You are on some sort of mission that everyone is tired of.

Also, the person who is saying the ugly things like "pub shaving", STOP. You sound like Len Gregor. We all know that Tonya's children belong with Tonya. We all are praying that she regains custody in a swift manner. Those of us that know or have direct knowledge of Joal Henke, can not wait until the day when those children are completely reunited with Tonya.

John, glad you figured that part out, but I just thought you might want to because of any psychos who might want to contact you. Also, you asked earlier about a Citizens Review Board. Unfortunately, we do not have one in this district, but Hamilton County does. They sit in on court sessions & are even privy to grand jury sessions. Chattanoogan.com is pretty good about releasing their (if I remember correctly) quarterly reports. It is a volunteer basis, but I've seen many of the judges in Hamilton County take their advice to heart. I am unsure what it takes to actually get one started, but would love to see one in Catoosa County and also the surrounding counties, especially those in the LMJD. I will be emailing shortly.

I saw the preview, but could not stand to watch the entire interview. What a liar. The "defense muddied the waters"? What?

The only good thing is that her escapades have made her daughter radioactive in the world of acting. No one is going to want to be around someone who is going to accuse them of child molestation if something goes wrong.

Furthermore, her claim on the stand (under oath, but being a prosecution witness in the LMJD means one can lie with impunity) that she did not know anything about the movie with her daughter is a lie. Both federal law and industry standards require an adult to be accompanying a child when the child is working.

For Lamb to claim that she knew nothing about the movie when, in fact, she was there the whole time, is just another whopper. Oh, and that her precious child had received no acting lessons? Yeah, right.

Thanks so much. Mr. Anderson I've been following your blog on this case with much interest. I worked with with children in schools for many years and know if an accusation is made then a person is assumed guilty. Dr. Anderson, I'm sure you're not surprised by most of the cognizant media's behavior post-trial. After all, media outlets rely upon sources for information. In this day and age, the vast majority of these sources seem to be government officials of any and all stripes.

Were anyone in the media to "betray" such sources, they would find themselves marginalized as a result. For ratings-based businesses, such as TV news networks, this can be positively fatal. Hence they dare not upset the apple cart, not even for something like this. After all, the powers-that-be still are.

For those of you in the Chattanooga/NW Georgia area, please keep this in mind.

Captcha: comagg -- combination of "coma" and "gag"; what I want to do when I hear about cowardly media outlets! :P

Third: The conduct of the defendant must have deprived the victim of some right secured or protected by the Constitution of the United States.
Fourth: The defendant must have acted willfully, that is, with a specific intent to violate the protected constitutional right.

I urge all of you to act promptly and diligently to see justice is served for the citizens of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.

Sincerely, ________________________

from WRCBTV

"Lamb says her daughter is still seeing therapist Laurie Evans. Evans came under scrutiny for practicing while suffering from a mental illness.

Lamb says Evans listens to her daughter, and that is what the girl needs."

That says enough, Child protective services needs to intervene and remove that child from that crazy woman, and I ain't talking about the therapist...

I am glad she did the interview though, I had no idea what she looked like. I have seen her daughter's picture on the imba website. Now if I happen to see her and her daughter walking through Walmart, I will know to RUN, NOT WALK, RUN the other way!!!!

As my sweet great grandmother would say, "That woman is crazy as a Betsy-Bug!"

In this text I will be as polite as I can. To those of the Justice, Police, and those who work with abuse children. Who try every day to follow the letter of the law I commend you for your work. But those that have broken ethics and quite frankly, the law I condemn you. You have made a grave error in judgment when you acted the way you have in this case. There was some very important people watching this case, and are not very happy. The way you portrayed how a trial should be ran, was that of a TV soap opera. Even if you thought you were right you showed no fairness. Now every case is going to be gone over with a fine tooth comb. You have given the criminals that really did something bad a chance to have their case reviewed. Frankly I’m appalled at this farce, and hope that ever case you have rubber stamp gets called back. And to the lawyers who worry about the “good ole boy system" your a disgrace to bar and the laws of the land. Any one who would take all a man has and watch him or her go to prison knowing you didnt do all you could to defend that person is crapola!

Someone needs to tell Sandra Lamb to look at the polls that are out there for review. I am sure that she is one of the 2% that state the jury got it wrong, but the rest of the vast majority 98% to be exact say the jury got it right.

Give it up lady, your 15 minutes of (in)fame(y) are up!

I so appreciate your blog, Mr. Anderson. I especially appreciate that you haven't sunk to the level of some of the folks commenting on here. I find it ironic and sad that the comments are the same type of gossipy garbage that started this entire mess with Tonya. Tonya has shown amazing strength, restraint, and class in during this entire ordeal. She seems to be a woman with true peace in her heart even after all she has been through. I believe she has been able to achieve that peace in part because she has chosen to take the high road. Even under horrible personal attacks from Len Gregor, she chose to be respectful. Her strength and grace should be a lesson to us all. Those who are repeatedly posting the same trash over and over about the families should take a lesson from Tonya. And the children...wow. I can't even imagine attacking children like that. These children are victims, not monsters. If you have such a problem with your children attending school with them, maybe you should consider homeschooling. Please, take the high road and stop the personal attacks. They are small, petty and ugly and this is not the place for them. This should be a forum for change in the system that tried to railroad Tonya, not a forum for hate.

Breathe people! Breathe!

It's hard to imagine that Ms. Lamb would take her daughter to Laurie Evans considering that her credentials are near zero as was revealed in the trial. As a mother, I would be very concerned about what ramifications my child would experience from the trial and what damage might be done (esp if I actually believed that she was abused) therefore I would try to find the BEST expert in the field available for my child to see. Is it that she just wants to dig her heels in to show everyone she was right?! No concern for the child's welfare but for her own pride and to attempt to save face?

Anon 8:17:

Evans credentials were not the problem, mental illness was. She has the education, but as I saw a few say, she's an educated idiot.

A few fries short of a Happy Meal, but passed the classes necessary.

My last post for the day nite to all.... The 9th Circuit further opined in Wallis v. Spencer, 202 F.3d 1126 (9th Cir. 2000), that ‘[b]ecause the swing of every pendulum brings with it potential adverse consequences, it is important to emphasize that in the area of child abuse, as with the investigation and prosecution of all crimes, the state is constrained by the substantive and procedural guarantees of the Constitution. The fact that the suspected crime may be heinous – whether it involves children or adults – does not provide cause for the state to ignore the rights of the accused or any other parties. Otherwise, serious injustices may result. In cases of alleged child abuse, governmental failure to abide by constitutional constraints may have deleterious long-term consequences for the child and, indeed, for the entire family. Ill-considered and improper governmental action may create significant injury where no problem of any kind previously existed.’ Id. at 1130-1131.”

I just looked at the video from tonight's interview with Mrs. Lamb. One of the saddest things about all of this is Mrs. Lamb truly believes what she is saying and will damage her daughter even more throughout her life by continuing the lie. When she speaks of her daughter talking about dying and being an angel sitting on little girls shoulders I for one do not know of one nine year old including my own children at that age that thought that deeply about dying and especially the images of angels nor would I want my nine year old to think about death this deeply. This definitely seems to me as an adult thought process translated to a child's mind. I just think it is sad that this mom wants to continue the lie bad enough that she is willing to further damage her child for the sake of it. Like Tonya said there have been no winners here and these little girls have had enough. I pray these mothers will love their children enough to seek true professional help for them and stop this insanity.

I agree with the person protesting against the families, you must not be on Tonyas side if you don't want to hear about getting rid of the people that hurt her.
